"Hi,
I did order a new fuel pump but the new pumps diameter is a bit larger than the older.
The pump was a CARM60980 Fuel Pump, Chrysler Small Block V8 67-77, Carter (from eBasicPower).

There is a small knob coming from the block, which makes that the new pump cannot be placed and tightened well.
If I plan to make the "knob" smaller by removing ~10mm from it's top, is there anything vital inside that knob?
See the pictures, the "knob" is visible in the first picture in the new pumps side.

"As I'm kind in a hurry to get the boat ready, it takes too long for me to contact to the seller and get response.
I'm located at Finland and the shipping takes ~week + the dispute time (maybe ~2 weeks).
I did remove the "knob" from the engine block and then the pump did fit correctly."

The pump you displayed in your picture are just like the ones on my 1985 LM318's.

You might want to consider changing over to electric pumps
