"Summer maintenance (440 FWC); I pulled my raw water impeller to inspect and to my surprise, it was in bad condition. I can't find two vanes.
I know I follow the exit water hose to the heat exchanger. Are there grates at the heat exchanger inlet to disallow debris, or..? If I can't find the vanes there, then what? Do I pull the end caps? Would I likely find them inside the exchanger? I already had the HE cleaned out last fall, so this is a possibly new incident. My temps on the engine are OK, so I imagine the new impeller will be welcomed. Now to find the vanes."
