I have a 1968 6 HP Sea King that heats up very quickly around the cylinders. It does pump water but I wonder if it is not pumping enough? It heats up within a couple minutes under idle then it shuts down the engine. Is the water impeller the problem here or can it be something else. Is the water impeller easy to replace and easily available? Anyone know the part number?

Thanks.

"Cody,
You didn't list your model #. but if it starts with a VWB xxxxx it is made by Chrysler and your Impeller part # is 429065.
After checking MarineEngine.com, you can also try franzmarine.com. I rebuilt my SeaKing 6 with parts from Franz."
