I own a 21' Galaxy Day Cru

I own a 21' Galaxy Day Cruiser with a rebuilt 383 stroker engine.

From day one I have had fuel delivery issues.

It seems my mechanical fuel pump isn't strong enough to break vacuum? in fuel tank. I believe tanks are stainless steel.

So I replaced large fuel filter/water separator with small plastic/visible fuel filter...but now I need to go back to real deal again and solve issue.

I purchased an electric fuel pump and am obtaining oil pressure safety switch as well.

Do I need an electric fuel pump...will this make my boating/starting easier? A friend stronly recommended going with an electric fuel pump.

Why might I have problems drawing gas thru filter via mechanical pump?

thanks guys....

"How about the anti-syphin val

"How about the anti-syphin valve, it's the fitting on the tank that the fuel hose connects to. Remove the hose from the fitting, and unscrew it from the tank and the fuel pickup tube will come up with it.

There should be a screen on the bottom of that tube it clean, blow thru the fitting it allows gas to go only one way it gunked up not working right?

All the hoses on tight no air leak?

Vent clear to the tank no little critters living, in the vent.

Now to the fuel pump you clean the filter in it? Open it up take a look.

You clean the filter at the carb, there is a filter in the fitting that enters the carb.

Finally your fuel pump giving you between 4-6 psi, test it with a gauge."

vacuum in the tank should not be possible as it is vented to atmosphere
