"marine mechanic said engine has the above--starts and runs but noisey like valves or tapet type noise--has new lifters, did not correct it--he says not worth it to fix best to get reconditioned one, I belive him---cant right now (money )--what does anybody think the odds are that it will last awhile if babied and whats the best way to baby it

"may want to get a second opinion; worst case he tell you the same thing, best case he finds and fixes things within your budget. Reconditioned drop ins and long/short blocks are other options.

Blowby usually indicates the "end of life" on an engine - couple that with valve train noise(s) and you're on the last leg. Before you take it out, check you insurance policy for towing coverage and get the contact info for at least two service providers before you go."

82 ford 351--engine just started giving out steam
smoke from exhaust after it runs for 10 mins--does
this mean theres a problem in the exhaust manifold
and whats the quickest way to fix or determine that
