I have an 9.8 four stroke and

I have an 9.8 four stroke and am adding an in line filter. Will lengthening the gas line have any effect on motor performance?

No. I added 6 ft more line to

No. I added 6 ft more line to mine as well as an inline filter and it has no adverse affects.
 
It can have an effect if the l

It can have an effect if the line is over 12 feet. The pump only has so much suction available.
