"My Chry 360 was backfiring and disabling cylinder #7 stopped the backfiring. Was told by mechanic that it was prob due to bad cam shaft. The plug in that cylinder was wet.

If it is the camshaft, is it difficult to replace?
just curious to know whats involved (high level)"

Backfire thru the exhaust or intake?
I'd start checking things first. It's a pretty big job to change a cam.
Is #7 plug oil or gas fouled?
Check your firing order and make sure plug wires are correct.
Any water contamination in the oil?
Check compression on 5 and 7.
