The L drive (Force) was like the Seadrive (OMC) - a kinda hybrid (or cross breed if you like) inboard/outboard where they used an outboard powerhead to power an I/O style lower unit.

An odd looking, cumbersome item that you would know at first glance - "that's not a normal outboard"...."
