"I have a 2001 225 OX66 it starts and runs smooth at idle, at around 1300 rpm it runs extremly rough and when it gets over 2000 rpm it runs great. I know that it is only running on 4 cylinders between 850 & 2000 RPM however it still should run smooth and not shake the entire boat. I can't find anything in the repair manual that gives any indication where to start looking to fix the problem. Any sugestions how to correct???"

"It sounds like the throtle pick-up may need some adjusting. If the throttle plates open too soon or too late it can cause rough running.

Make sure the throttle plates are opening together, and closing all the way at idle.

The idle mixture could also be too rich, or too lean.

"I have a similar problem on one of my motors. I would do the following:

-check the compression
-check the fuel pumps (low pressure ones)
-clean O2 sensor
-check tps
-check throttle plates
-check spark plug caps

BTW, OX66 runs skips cylinder 2 and 5 at 1800 rpm or below. I wish there was a way to get all cylinders firing all the time."
