"Could use some guidance here.

"Could use some guidance here...I have a 1977 Trojan F26 with a single 318. Water inlet does not have a seacock and I'd like to add one. The boats in storage for the winter so it's a perfect time to get at it. Any suggestions, re: type, model, etc and installation guidelines?"

"A ball valve works best, sinc

"A ball valve works best, since it is closed quickly in an emergency. It must be anti-corrosive, but not plastic. Normally brass is used, I would not use smaller than 1-1/4 in, then adapt to your hose size. Be sure you have an external strainer, if not already installed, and be sure the assembly is bonded."

Here is a photo of my replacement installed a couple of years ago along with the ~28 year old orginal from a '75 F26. The backing blocks get pretty spongy after that much time. I prefer the through hull with a mushroom/ strainer that threads into the seacock.

Thanks guys! The information

Thanks guys! The information and the pictures and download were really a big help. Now all I have to do is get limbered up to spend some "quality time" in the engine compartment (not as easy as it was a few years ago...)
