Yamaha 40 Enduro hard starting

"I have a 1991 Yamaha 40 Endur

"I have a 1991 Yamaha 40 Enduro which runs fabulous across the water with vicious acceleration and speed!! However, starting it is hard. There are times we have to work like a dog. Even when warmed, when you shut it off, it is hard to start. I replaced the primer bubble on the gas line to the tank thinking the gas may be falling down the line into the tank (air escape). I checked the carbourator for problems such as dirt, sinking float, needle seat and valve and all seem good. We were going to try mixing the gas leaner from 50:1 currently. Any suggestions to get my motor to start better? Thanks"

"My dad has a 85 Yamaha that is probably 15 years old. I thas always started and run perfectly. Back in the summer, it got very difficult to crank when it was cold. Once it did start, it ran perfectly for the rest of the day and started the first time every time. However, after not running it for a few days, the problem returned. The problem seems to be getting worse. Any ideas?"
