Hard shifting on the old 165

My recent test run at the lake

My recent test run at the lake says the old 165 is now running great. It seems though on old boats each trip brings on a new problem. I had trouble finding neutral and hard shifting to forward and reverse. I am sure I need a new rear shift cable. What else should I be looking for?

Yup! Happens to me each trip. You need a shift cable all right. Change that and all will be fine--until the next...You know!

Check that the interupt switch

Check that the interupt switch is working if all shifting is hard. You may get lucky and find it is disconnected or not working.

If it's working get ready to dive into that shift cable.
