"I am replacing my 94 5.0 mercuriser alpha 1 with possibly a little older 85 GM mercruiser 5.7 270 HP rebuild is there any major issues I am missing, Will the outdrive work OK with 270 HP"

"Thanks, I do have one more question about 5.7 engines and will post__ a older 1985 5.7L compared to the next newer version 87 to 96 5.7L, Is one version better then the other ? (Durability, Maintence,) Is there any thing that makes one much better then the other?
