Could any one tell me if the 8

Could any one tell me if the 888 and the 898 inner transom plates are interchangeable? My bell housing (888) to transom plate holes are about 12 3/4 apart.

"I think you will find that the transom plates are the same on both models, as is the entire drive assembly.
The 888 is a Ford 302 V-8 and the 898 is a GM 305 V-8; so the engines are entirely different."

The 888 is a 302 Ford. The 898 is a 351 Ford.
The bell housings should be the same for both as far as bolting it to the engine.

"I hate to take issue with you Charli, but the 898 shows in my manual as a GM 305. In fact I owned a 1977 model 898 back a few years ago, and it was definitely a 305 Chevy small block, with a 2 bbl carb.
