hp performace for 1987 43 engine

"I am fairlly new to inboards,

"I am fairlly new to inboards, have a 87 4.3 v4. I am going right through this boat. I want to know how much I can get out of the engine.
I want to know maxium compression, max cam, the works.
Why am I limited in the rpm range? Can I twist it at 6500? Will the stearn drive take it. I have built many car engines, so I have experiance in engines.
Can someone fill me in on this, or derect me to someone who can?

"I believe the 4v and 2v were only meant in reference to the carb (2 venturi, 4 venturi) but your right the 4.3 with a 2bbl was 175 hp and 4.3 with the 4 bbl was 205 hp. Best bet would be to get an original OMC factory manual to get the specs, check on eBay, many manuals there used and new."
