D240 Low Oil Pressure

I've just installed a new

I've just installed a new D2-40 engine. It came filled with oil. The oil pressure starts out at 58 psig and drops steadily to 21 psig (42 minutes later) when I have the engine in gear at 1000 rpm. The cooling water temp rises normally and holds steady at 203 F (the high end of the normal operating range). Any idea what's going on?
