Im wanting to buy a 30 hp moto

Im wanting to buy a 30 hp motor for my boat have always had tohatsus and been very pleased with there reliability there is not many on the market someone said just buy a mercury are the 2000 onwards absolutely the same. O should i just keep looking.

"for years Tohatsu built all of the small Mercs (up to 15hp I think). Tohatsu now builds all of their motors up to 30hp. I don't know what year they started building the 25/30 for Mercury but it wasn't as far back as 2000. Maybe sometime around 2005 or 2006? If you're looking for a new, current year motor, then yes...the Merc 30 is the same as the Tohatsu 30. But chances are you'll pay more for the Merc than you would the Tohatsu."

You can look for a Tohatsu at your nearest Tohatsu dealer...Just like you would look for a Yamaha at a Yamaha dealer.
