Volvo 2002 with hydraulic drive problem

I've just purchased a Heav

I've just purchased a Heavenly Twins catarmaran.
Engine is approx. 1985. I brought the boat home approx. 15 miles at sea. The hydraulic drive didn't perform well once in 'gear' the engine would only achieve 1500 revs/min with the throttle on full.
I topped up the hydraulic oil but now it won't select forward or reverse. Probably needs bleeding but not sure how to do this. I've removed the top hose (back to the tank) and only a little oil returns. Any ideas would be most appeciated.
 
Check that engine is in fact t

Check that engine is in fact turning pump. Check for easy spin of shaft. Could in the end be pump failure.

Im not quite sure that Volvo Penta ever delivered a factory installed hydaulic reverse gear on the 200x series engines. They did ion the previous MD17.
Question is then what kind of gear box do You have?
Must be some manufacturer info somewhere?
