"I have a Volvo 2002 salt water cooled diesel. After it heats up to temp. and the thermostat opens there is a stream of hot water that runs from the thermostat housing over board above the water line through a small hose. I've changed the thermostat and the water is still running overboard. The hot water is crazing the gel coat on the hull. Question: Can this hose be diverted back to the exhaust elbow or exhaust hose and the hot water then enter the exiting exhaust stream? If this is an anti siphoning mechanism can I "T" the hose, insert a small one way valve to the atmosphere (above the water line) and direct the other side of the "T" to the exhaust? Thanks for any suggestions or help."
