I just bought a 20 Glasply cuddy. This boat has been sitting since 1993 and has alot of minor repairs to do.
This Is the mcm 140 with (I believe) a Alpha Drive.
Before I started the engine I tested the shifter and It moved to the forward position and reverse fine. After I started the engine I tried to shift the drive forward, made a dull clunk and never engaged the drive. Now the shifter Is stuck In this forward position.
Any Ideas would be appeciated. Thanks

"Well ,if it`s in fwd already I`d atleast pull the drive off and inspect everything there.Then you can determine if the trouble is either the control box cable, the lower shift cable or the drive itself."
 
have you checked the fluid in

have you checked the fluid in the drive? and like DOC said pull the drive while its in foward gear because it has to be there before you pull it anyways and inspect all may just b something minor

Thanks for the info. Since I have never had A I/O before I will dig into the Seloc manual tonight and see If I can get some done tomorrow.
