"Previous query was incomplete

"Previous query was incomplete. Black plastic threaded coupling in gear linkage was broken, allowing remote handle to go to reverse, but temporary repair of coupling didn't fix problem of missing neutral and reverse: gear linkage rod and the pivoting part to which they connect simply won't go beyond the midpoint.Nissan service manual for this model doesn't discuss or illustrate the connection between the gear linkage rod and the gears in lower unit."

"I had the EXACT same problem

"I had the EXACT same problem with this motor, except it was in reverse when it happened -- broken plastic piece and all. It wouldn't go into forward. No way, no how. Therefore I couldn't even drop the lower unit...

I know what you mean about the service manual. It's not much help here.

I ended up selling the motor for parts since the powerhead ran so well, and I bought a new motor (Yamaha)."
