"how do you adjust the points

"how do you adjust the points on a 1989 pcm 351, and is there a better set up than the points system, my boat is sputtering real bad and alot of carbon build up, it has never done this before"

"Pertronics Electronic Ignition, ( the sierra marine one is the same but more money ) i've purchased the pertronics for a few friends and customers from ebay and carshopinc.com I'm sure the guys here at Marine Engine can get you one to.. ps.. to adjust the points you need a flat blade screw driver and a feeler gauge, the ignition key OFF and a manual. Electronics require NO adjustment once installed."
