Hello all.. do i need a voltag

Hello all.. do i need a voltage regulator in my mercruiser 470 if i got the new alternator convertionl... or do i just keep the hoses connected and not the wiring..

So the old voltage regulator is no longer a need item..cause before i started to work on the wiring i noticed wiring still attach to the VR..i guess somewhere down the line it was cut
if it is no longer being used what happens to the hoses that are connected to it ..leave them. and will it still allow water to go through it

Actually the water dosent "go thru it" .the tube is just clamped to the back of the reg. body.Remove it completely if you like and just get a longer hose
