"I have a 1988 4.3L mercruiser with an alpha drive. While in the process of replacing the shift cable and all the rubber parts...I found allot of play between the steering arm and the gimbal ring. I need to replace the steering arm..I think...but I can't figure out how to get the gimbal housing off...I have removed the cotter pin from the lower pivot pin...but how to I get the pin out...and should I take it loose from the bottom pivot pin or from the top...or both....any suggestions are really appreciated.
