I have a 98 4.3 fourwinns does

I have a 98 4.3 fourwinns does anyone know what causes the starter relays to go bad?My mechanic seems to believe that mine has gone south and is causing a no start problem and is there any way to test mine now that is out of the boat and on order?

"Condensation is about the big

"Condensation is about the biggest cause. Boats that are put away for the winter with the motor box or cover closed have the most chance of this. Temperature inversions (sudden warm air when every object is really cold from prolonged low air temperature) is the same as taking a cold bottle out of a regrigerator on a hot, humid day.

Apply voltage to the contact(s) that would when you're trying to crank it. If it doesn't do anything, it's bad. Another thing that makes them go bad is trying to crank a motor with a battery with low charge. The contacts burn and then they don't conduct electricity."
