My Seasport has the 155hp kais

My Seasport has the 155hp kaiser engine and I am trying to extract the water thermostate from the thermostate housing. It may be the original because it aint budging. I would rather have egg on face and learn the new and approved extraction method.
Any hints?

"If your replacing it, apply heat to the area where the t-stat mates to the block. I'm assuming salt has welded it in there."

Got er out. Put it in a pan o water and heated it up. Begins to open at 140 and is fully open between 170 & 180. but I already have a new one on the way. Will put a coat of oil on this one and keep it for a spare.
