"It has come down to purchasing one more piece for my new (rebuilt) motor. I was thinking about running an aluminium intake, as I am running a closed FWC system. Is this a good idea or should I stick with cast iron? Also, could I use an intake from a car motor? From what I understand they are the same.... Also, what to look for? Almost all the ones I see on ebay are for pre-1987 motors.

"Almost all 87 up chevy car and trucks were fuel injected. I bought an Edelbrock intake for my 97 350 vortec. 87 to 95 intake is only slightly different than earlier models, 4 center bolts go into head at a different angle. I have heard of people opening up the holes to use the early intake on 87 to 95 heads. For 96 up with vortec heads you will need aftermarket or marine intake. Aluminum is fine as long as you have antifreeze flowing through it."

Are you sure? I though the Vortech heads had 8 bolts. I'm almost positive mine has 12. I have center bolt heads, but they are non-vortech."

A 94 will have the Striaght Down 4 bolts in the Center,...

Vortec Heads didn't appear til 96/ 97...."
