Driveshaft spline seal retainer problem

"Attempting to replace the wat

"Attempting to replace the water pump impeller and seals. Removed lower unit and noted the upper drive shaft spline seal and retainer stuck to the drive shaft. Is this normal and what is the proper way to remove the retainer, to allow replacing the impeller? CAN SOMEONE HELP?"

did you ever get the spline seal out? i have a 115 chrsyler and cant get it out

A cresent wrench and a hammer.
Open the wrench and slide it under the retainer.
Tap with hammer.

what you do with a long bar or did u pull the engine head off ??

as i cant get the rubber sleev out if its even in there or not as i cant slide the shaft up inside it

and i didnt wanna take head off really

and if so was it alot of work to take it off
