"I am in the process of rebuilding my port side trim cylinder. I have ordered the trim cylinder end cap. I have some questions since this is the first time I am rebuilding a trim cylinder. 1.There is a continuity spring that is installed inside the trim cap. What will happen if this part is not installed. It looks like the end cap that I have now does not have it.
2. Also, can you suggest a replacement for the spanner wrench that is required,or is there a protective material that can be wraped around the end cap to protect it, so that my pipe wrench wont rip it appart? (I can't seem to purchase a $30 tool for one spin application.)"
