The colds effect on the out drive

"This is the first winter with this boat, so I dont know if this is normal. After winterrizing it was left with the outdrive trimed all the way up. This was mid Oct. today the outdrive is all the way down to the driveway. Is this the cold? I live in Minnesota where we have had lows in the -10 to -20 range, and few days above 32, Or is this just the hydrolics just bleeding down?"

"You'll have to wait for spring to know for sure, all you can do right now is check for fluid on the ground or in the bilge. By the way you should never leave the drive in the up position as it's very hard on the rubber drive and exhaust bellows plus water can get in around the prop shaft (unless it's covered) and possibly freeze and crack something."

"I was told to leave my outdrive in the down position over winter for exactly the reason Bob says, but have always been surprised that tracker boats here have all their drives up, regardless of the conditions !!!"
