"I am looking at a sailboat that has a MD1 and when it starts it imediately goes to high RPM. The throttle has no effect, but appears to operate properly. I was wondering if the governor could be hung up? Has anyone experienced this or steer me in the right direction of things to check?"

"I dont know if it will be helpful or not but you'll find the workshop manual HERE

Remember this is an old engine, made from 1958 to 1970, and spares may be difficult or impossible to obtain and require shed loads of gold bars to purchase when they are available."

I have just read your thread and was going to offer spare parts as l have a spare engine but noticed you are in the US and l am in the UK!!
