"Hi all,

I am considering buying a 2008 6.2L to replace my tired 454. While in the process I want to go to the new DTS system. I am told that just because the motor is Smartdrive compatible it must also have a DTS option. This motor is almost new (less than 10 hrs) and I need to know how to retrofit it with the DTS option. Can a dealer do this? Can I send it back to Mercruiser?

"Thanks for the suggestion. I struggled with that decision and opted for the 6.2 to save some weight in an already stern heavy cruiser. The 6.2 will net me about 20 more HP than my original 454 but save about 200 pounds. The fuel injected MPI will help some over the carbureted 454. It's a compromise I know but I think it will help.
