what are symptoms of water in

what are symptoms of water in fuel? Is it possible for water to enter into the tank vent? mine is located starboard side half way up.

loss of power?
rough idle?
sediment buildup in fuel filter?
what is the best way to remove all the water?
would I need to replace anything after all the water is out?

All of the above. A good water separator should be installed before the fuel pump, with a filter (fine) after the fuel pump. Violation of these rules ofter leads to the problem good are experiencing.

Once the water is out--via frequent separator dumping/ filter changing, then you'll be all set.
