"Tech Question: I pulled my 19

"Tech Question: I pulled my 1988 PCM 351 (CCW rotation starter) out of my boat and installed a 2002 PCM 351 in my boat. I removed the starter and alternator from my 1988 engine and transfered to my 2002 engine. The engine turns over smooth with no spark plugs in. As soon as I put a plug or two in, the engine does not turn over smooth at all. Could a CW rotation starter fix this problem; how do I determine what rotation I need? The firing order is the same on both engines. Thanks a bunch for any help."

What happens when you put all eight in? A CW starter will only help you if you installed the wrong engine.

"It turns over slower with all eight plugs in. Not wrong engine, different engine. Gas seems to only be getting to cylinder four and eight."
