"For the last 2 seasons have had idle issue. With engine cold or hot at idle the engine is hitting on 7 or less cylinders. When throttle is increased to 1000 rpm to full throttle the engine runs fine. There is also a point that the boat surges from idle to 1000 rpm and then back to idle. Have changed plugs twice, plug wires, distributer cap and rotor. No help same issue. Dealer says carb needs to be rebuilt. HELP?????????"

"A carb rebuild every 10 years or so may do wonders. This is an too often overlooked area but the carb is responsible for distributing up to around 30 gal of fuel an hour, and doing so for hour after hour, year after year.
Sometimes you get water in the fuel, somteimes the boats sits for extended periods with old fuel in the carb. Of course it needs an overhaul just to take it back to the factory spec's after 10 years of hard work. On rear occasions a replacement will be the only alternative, but your carb beeing a Weber/Edelbrock is relatively new, and will probably just need a skilled hand and an overhaul gasket and needle kit."
