i have an 87 M40c that came with a small boat i recently recieved. i had to drop the lower unit to access the water pump as the motor had sat for years. after replacing the impeller i have not been able to remount the lower unit. the brass seal that rides on the shift rod has a retaining pin that holds it in place. i have not been able to get the seal to reseat and be held by the retaining pin. if anyone has any thought on how i should do this please let me know. thank you.
