You bought a Tach for a 2-stroke Outboard motor....

It Won't work on a 4-stroke VW motor....}"

"Wires:
Grey-pulse input
Black-ground
Blue-dial lighting
Purple-Ignition switched B+

Most OMC tachs from recent history run from the charging system, and would deliver a pulse similar to that produced by a battery driven breaker ignition system. On the other hand, if it's set up for an outboard magneto, it might be designed for pulses of 200 volts or more. Either way, you're probably not going to blow it up by trying it on your four stroke."
