"Kevin, I don't have a full breakdown by serial numbers, but you have an early 1940's model (1940/41) twin cylinder 5 horse built by Evinrude for Montgomery Wards - Wards model 8817

It was build specifically for Wards but is a carbon copy of Ev's own model 373 - which is also reflected in the numbers you posted."

Here's a rough breakdown of your 04EA 8817A 373 00875

04 is the year (transposed) - so 40 (1940)

E - built by Evinrude (don't know if the "a" is significant)

8817A - Wards model number

373 - Evinrude model number

00875 - ? (don't know)

The 200136 will be the Wards serial (best guess - but looks like one of their serials)

Best I can do for ya - I do have some fairly old production lists, but this is reaching back a fair ways and they are somewhat incomplete..."
