Wanted to determine the reason for low WOT. Reading some of the posts led me to believe that I need to check the fuel pump pressure. I know that it is supposed to be between 7-9 PSI.

Question is how do you check it.

I know I would need to remove the fuel line from the carb (I assume) do I connect pressure gauge to the line or do I need to put in a "Tee" and monitor it while the engine is running.

If when the engine is running, what RPMS?

Thanks in advance for the help
Michael"

More likely you're carb. M

More likely you're carb. Make sure you have a marine carb first of all and probably a carb rebuild is in order.

Yes you put a tee in the fuel

Yes you put a tee in the fuel line. Get someone to drive the boat at WOT or they can take the reading and you drive the boat. You may want to check the fuel filter first.

You should also check the anti

You should also check the anti-syphon valve at the tank. This is normally the fitting that the fuel line to the engine attaches to. It's a spring loaded check ball and when they start to get gummed up the fuel pump isn't strong enough to draw enough fuel.

For a 1979 V8 Chevy, they do not identify it by CID but by HP, 185/200/230/260 HP, all the same:
Dwell 30°
Points Gap .018"
Spark Plug RBL8 Champion
Plug Gap .035"
Fuel Pump pressure 7-9psi
Timing Marks Degree 7° except 260HP - 10°
Hope this helps."
