"I have a Volvo Penta 2002 circa 1985 (3500hrs)which I have operated without problems for 12 years, Recently and suddenly the engine failed to start, after checking batteries, wiring, fuel new starter and new cylinder head it is still taking a huge amount of cranking to start. Once it goes no problem, it will run all day. Any suggestions?"

Cranks but won't start? sounds like you have air in the fuel injectors. I would bleed the fuel injection and make sure all fittings are tight.

Once it starts wouldn't all the air be eliminated?
