82 bayliner penta engine will not start

"boat running great then struggled to start a few time,spluttered to dock, when I accelerated it struggled. got back to marina switched off, never started since.
i aint got a clue but carb jets,fuel out of only one brass jet that I can see??
changed plugs but not points. ideas anyone"

"Check the condition of the ignition coil and the distributor (points and condenser). If the problem is in the distributor, consider upgrading to a Pertronix electronic ignition kit: your engine will purr like a kitten and you will never have to change points again.

Also, to eliminate the possibility of a problem with the ignition switch or wiring, you can hotwire the (+) of the coil with the (+) of the battery: if the engine runs normal, the problem would be either wiring or ignition switch (remember to remove the jumper after you finish the test or the engine won't stop!!!)"
