"Sorry for such a lame question. I have just bought a new (used)12 ft tinnie boat with a Yamaha 9.9D motor on it. I don't know how old the motor is....fairly old but runs fine. The bloke I bought it off left me in al sorts of a mess -trailer rego run out - boat needed certifying etc etc so I don't want to go back and ask him, what I should have asked when I bought it, namely what percentage oil to fuel ratio do i need? 50:1, 25:1?.
Also I want to upgrade the Yamaha to a 15hp...I'm thinking Mercury as I like the gear-change on the throtle but I have had carbie troubles with a merc before. Whats the good oil on the most reliable outboards these days....or is that like asking how long is a piece of string?"
