"Will a 4 bbl carb and manifold from a 1979 mercruiser 470 fit on a 1988 3.7 mercruiser? If so, how much more power would it have? Would it be worth the effort?

It would not be worth the effo

It would not be worth the effort. If I remember correctly the 4bbl model has a different cam shaft then the 2 bbl. I believe higher lift and different profile for the added fuel. Other than that I belive it will bolt up. I would also reccomend getting a pertronics electronic conversion and be done with the points. The HP gain with the 4bbl is ~ 20-30 hp. I do not have the appropriate manual so I dont know the different specs on the cam.
