"I was out in my 9.9Hp evinrude yesterday. I had her WOT and it was running well and all of a sudden the boat slowed down and the RPMs on the engine really shot up. I reduced the throttle and calmed her down. Tried increasing the gas again and the same thing happened. It was like it was running in neutral, but it wasn't.

Luckily it allowed me to troll home but that was it.

My question is, does this sound like a spun propeller and if so is it something that I can fix myself or do I need to take her to the shop or get a new propeller, or what? What should I be looking for to determine the problem? Any help would be appreciated."

Pull off the prop and check th

Pull off the prop and check the condition of the rubber in the hub.
If it is as weak as you say then you should be able to tell it was breaking loose just by looking at it.
Depends on cost if you should have it repaired or just buy a new one if its bad.

Change that prop...The hub is probably toast.
OR
You can have them repaired fairly cheap. I would replace it though if it were my boat...But I don't like paddelin or swimmin home!!!
