I am converting a Mallory Dist

I am converting a Mallory Dist. to a pointless dist. The directions say to get voltage before the ballast resistor.... The engine does not have a ballast resistor.
But it does have a resistance wire from the choke
Do I have to by-pass the resisance wire?

What they are saying is that you need a full 12 volts(battery voltage)and not to reduce the voltage to the distributor by going through a resistor first.

Connect the power supply wire for the distributor to a terminal that has full battery voltage when the key is turned to run & start position.

"I have a 88' Chris Craft w/5.7, i just replaced the engine and the new engine has "EST" ignition, do i hook up the ignition amplifier that was on the old engine or not. Thanks! Carl"
