OMC used to sell a kit with a new ESA... anyone know where I can get one?

I need new points, and I also think my ESA is bad... I'd much rather have electronic ignition!

The problem is the shift assis

The problem is the shift assist module. Try to find someone with an old System Matched catalog from OMC. The part number for ESA module for electronic kit is listed there. I would not be surprised if Joe Reeves in the Evinrude/Johnson forum has saved a copy.

I believe my ESA is shot. I tested the switches and it doesn't stall the motor. The ignition interrupter switch is working (closes contact when pushed), and the overstroke switch is normally closed and opens when pushed.

I'm probably going to buy the CDI/rapair module and the pertronix ignition.

How do I tell which distributor I have? there are no markings on it. It is a screw-on type. It's either an 87 or 88 4.3L GM.
