"I have a 2006 Crownline with a 8.1L GxiDP. Had engine alarms, saw black exhaust and ran rough especially at idle. Dealer says it is using 6.2 gal/hr at idle even after replacing engine computer and fuel distribution system. No one at VP or dealer has seen this before. Has anyone? Desperate for a solution."

"I have not worked in that type of engine before, but if it was my engine I would run a compression test and make sure that nothing is dragging (bellhousing bearings, seized piston, etc). Also, make sure there is nothing obstructing air ingress to the intake manifold."

"The black smoke and high fuel consumtion at idle says the motor is flooding like crazy. I'd guess that the temp sensor is telling te ECU the motor is stone cold, which it isn't.
