"Hi everyone,

The maximum speed dropped by 10 knots after I had my boat done with 2 coats of bottom paint. Does this normally happens???? Or is there a problem with my 150 Evinrude???"

Is the finish smooth? A rough or a orange peel type finish will slow the boat down.

Jeff I doubt you have an engine problem. Did you check the sender for the speedometer for a blockage or are you using a GPS for checking the speed?
If the speedometer sender was removed check that it is in the same position as before.
It doesn't take much to slow down the boat if the bottom is not like glass.

If you have a speedometer in t

If you have a speedometer in the boat there should be a sender on the back of the boat the hangs down below the bottom of the boat. This will have a small hose or wire depending on the type of speedometer you have.
This sender is mounted on the back at a point that it will still be in the water when the boat is on plane. It's made of white plastic most times. There will be a leg about 3" long that hangs down from where it is mounted. Again most are held on with two screws depending on the model.
If it is electronic it may be black with a small paddle type wheel on it.
