"I was getting ready to put my

"I was getting ready to put my boat in the water this weekend, so I started it up with the muffs on it in the driveway and I noticed water coming out of an unusual place. I determined where the leak was coming from and then looked it up in the manual, and from what I gather it's coming out of the shift shaft where the upper and lower unit meet. Does this sound familiar or possible to anyone?"
 
It would help to know the year

It would help to know the year and model of the drive system. Some do have water exits in that area. Some had a semi open exhaust that would allow water to exit in the center by the shift shaft. If you have an open exhaust when the drive is up this is why you have the water.
