"I have a 17'6" Skeete
"I have a 17'6" Skeeter bass boat with a 1990 Evinrude 115. I currently have a 17" pitch prop which, with about 500lbs of persons/gear, will plane in about 8 seconds with a top speed of 40mph at 5300rpm. My OMC manuals say to use a 19" pitch prop on this combination and top speed of 46-58. What impact would I have going to a 19" or maybe 15" thinking better out of the hole performance. I'm thinking I could push the rpms to 5800 with the 15" but my concern is to still have a top speed of 40-45. If I go to 19" will I lose the ability to plane the boat, which I think is too long at 8 seconds, and/or lose peak rpms?"
